What are some senior housing options?

The stereotype of an old person being sent to a nursing home is about as outdated as Grandpa’s Model T. Many housing options are available for us, ranging from staying in our own homes, to moving to a smaller home or condo, or to moving to a retirement community. When we need extra help with some activities of daily livng, we can hire someone to come into our homes to provide services or we can move to an assisted living community. If we break a hip or need joint replacement surgery, we can recuperate in a rehabilitation facility and then (usually) return home. Skilled nursing facilities are used in situations where 24-hour a day nursing care is needed. These are our options today, but the future is wide open for us to create what we want. Continue reading
